President Michelle Bachelet has been acussed of electoral intervention after meeting Alejandro Guiller, her coalition’s presidential cantidate.

In a statement issued, right-wing House members María José Hoffmann and Juan Antonio Coloma said that the head of State is not acting in “republican manner” and that Ms Bachelet is “coarsely intervening by receiving in the presidential palace one of the candidates running for the presidency”.

In the same statement, both said that Ms Bachelet might be “putting at his disposal the entire State apparatus for him to use it with electoral purposes”.

They also stated that Nueva Mayoría, her coalition, cannot “break the rules, let alone try to influence the result of the election.
